Oakhurst Grange School, Caterham, Surrey

The vision of a multi-use games area installed in an area of outstanding natural beauty was made possible for Oakhyrst Grange School by Smith Construction.

Due to the location of the MUGA, a stabilised temporary access road was installed and on completion of the work, was reinstated to restore the original beauty of the landscape.

Close attention to detail in the challenging design and planning stages succeeded and the back to back MUGA was designed and constructed in the most suitable area of the school; the lower field. To strengthen the ground and increase the CBR, Smith Construction incorporated ground stabilisation of the MUGA formation.

  • Size – 72m x 18m
  • Smith Construction assisted to obtain planning permission
  • MUGA location required a large amount of excavating for a temporary access road, which was fully reinstated to the original condition
  • Project required our pioneering method of lime/cement stabilisation

From Ken Smith at the top, to his entire team, I have received nothing but the finest of customer service. The office team is highly responsive. My thanks to Sophie and Conor. The construction team led by Jeremy is excellent, at no time was my school overly disrupted. Mark picked up the lead in the latter stages and continued the high level of delivery and service. Hannah has delivered world class personal attention to the project and my little school has benefited from her talent and personal attention. A very big thank you from me.
