Smith Construction is proud to be delivering a new hockey pitch for The Queen’s School in Chester — a high-performance facility designed to meet FIH (International Hockey Federation) standards. With groundwork well underway, the project is shaping up to be a top-tier addition to the school’s sporting provision.
Project Scope
Valued at £1.5 million, this phase of the project includes:
Ground Stabilisation – Preparing the site for long-term structural integrity.
Drainage Installation – Ensuring durability and playability in all weather conditions.
Aggregate Base Construction – Carefully compacted to provide a reliable foundation for the synthetic surface.
Once complete, the pitch will feature TigerTurf Evo, a premium artificial surface renowned for its consistent performance and international-grade certification.
Outcome (In Progress)
The groundwork now laid will soon support a surface fit for top-level school and club hockey. Smith Construction’s careful planning and high-spec execution ensure the project stays on track — setting the stage for elite sport at The Queen’s School.
