Overview
Smith Construction was appointed as the Main Contractor to deliver an ambitious, state-of-the-art sports development for Christ’s Hospital School, in partnership with Bluecoat Sports Centre (BCS). This £9 million project is a landmark investment in the school’s athletic infrastructure and sets a new standard for school-based sports provision in the UK.
Project Scope
The project includes several firsts and exciting features, enhancing both the functionality and appeal of the campus:
- Four Padel Courts – Supporting one of the fastest-growing racket sports in Europe, giving students and the wider community access to modern, specialist facilities.
- 400-Metre Running Track – A professional-grade athletics track to support training and competitions.
- UK’s First Outdoor “Get Active” Adventure Trail – A unique outdoor fitness course aimed at promoting inclusive, enjoyable physical activity for all ability levels.
- New Access Infrastructure – Smith Construction is also delivering a newly designed access road directly from Christ’s Hospital Road to BCS, as well as a purpose-built parking area on the north side of the complex.
